Open and Close
Sometimes public art leaves no room for interpretation, yet other pieces scream for it. I think this one falls into the latter category, definitely. According to Yves Trudeau, the sculptor, this bronze piece 'Mur ouvert et fermé' (c. 1978) contrasts openness (the meaning of light and hope) with closure (meaning sorrow and hate). Depending on the viewing angle, the time of day, the purity of the light, how many coffees you've had.... there could very well be an entirely different world of meaning behind this one piece. Does this sculpture speak to you? What do you think it means or resembles?
