The Rising Cost of Capitalism
Yes, the price of gas is slowly climbing, and we – okay, me – barely even noticed actually; but now that it's nearing a dollar per litre, the daily fluctuations are quite glaring. Considering what the prices were almost two years ago (or even what they are presently in other parts of the world) I know I really shouldn't complain. When we left Victoria to make our way across Canada, we filled up and paid $1.52 per litre. Ouch!! And then had 4,000 km to drive at that relative price in a vehicle that was filled to the brim! My step-dad, on the other hand, works in the Alberta oil patch and gets a sparkle in his eye as he watches the prices rise. Like a kid in a candy store, really. There are always two sides (at bare minimum) to every story. What does it cost YOU to fill up your gas tank?
