Hola!
In the oddest place – standing outside LaPresse Café (and a hotel for that matter) – you will find a bronze sculpture: an homage to the founder of Bolivia, Simon Bolivar. As the liberator of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Panama and Venezuela, this 'Hero' can be found on Besserer Street in downtown Ottawa. A celebration of the friendship between the Bolivarian countries and Canada, the sculpture sadly caused a bit of controversy when it was first erected in 1988. Everyone seems to have gotten over it now, though, and when you are off the beaten path this brave fighter is a welcome sight.
