Room With a View...
As we entered the church, I was immediately in awe of the vibrant windows and the scale of the Gothic interior. Everything is so grand here in St. Patrick's Basilica, from the double aisles to the pews that seat up to 1000 people to the hand carved confessionals. The window stations are really one of the highlights, though, as the colour captures your immediate attention and draws you in to 'read the story' being told.
In attempts to archive this classic form of storytelling, there is a Registry of Stained Glass Windows in Canada, via Toronto's York University. Volunteer researchers across the country can submit listings, descriptions and photos of stained glass windows they encounter so a permanent record can be kept. It is meant as a data-gathering project rather than a research project, by sheer fact that much of the information is still incomplete.

It's not just the stained glass — even the carving around the arch is magnificent! The stations of the cross look like fantastic reliefs too.
Beautiful ART and LIGHT.
What a view ...! Wonderful.
