Father's Day at the Flea Market
In honour of the Day, it was left up to my husband to choose how our family spent the afternoon and his decision was this: to visit the Rideau Carleton Raceway where every Sunday in the summer there is a flea market. Some stalls had real pieces of history. This stall in particular had a 150 year-old handmade chess board, some antique boat oars with detailed renderings for decoration, including quite a few authentic bits and bobs like these items shown here. Similar to Eric's experience, you almost needed a history book to explain what some of the pieces were! Other items at the flea market were beyond explanation, necessity or sophistication like the pair of lamps made from deer hooves. Yes, seriously. Can you believe it?
Have a great start to the week, everyone.

Wonderful shot, Angela.
Fun, flea market finds! I wonder if any Olympic speed skaters of yester year used those skates?!
This makes a beautiful still life.
