A Common Beauty
The sweet-scented flowers on this Common Milkweed – Asclepias syriaca – is the mandatory food source for the caterpillars of the Monarch butterfly who feast on the leaves. And to think I found this beauty down by the Beaver Pond! Yes, the one we are fighting to save.
In case you happen to be in the Kanata area, there's another rally at the Beaver Pond (on Walden & Kimmins) coming up this Wednesday, June 23rd at 5 pm. Looks like we've captured some national attention as the David Suzuki Foundation and Elizabeth May of the Green Party are on our side, and the Facebook page has grown to over 4,000 activists. In case you haven't had an opportunity to view the video please do so now and you'll see just why it is urgent that the destruction must be stopped.

It is never too late to do the right thing.
