An Homage to Franco-Ontariens
Off in a lonesome corner in the Byward Market is this completely brilliant mural that pays tribute to the French population and culture here in Ontario. Mainly residing in the Eastern part of the province, approximately 4% of the Ontario population are considered to be Francophones, having declared French as their only mother language. Back to the art... What makes this mural so amazing is that is not your typical two-dimensional work. Note the lumberjack balanced on the wooden plank and the relief of the balcony on the far wall. The artist, Pierre Hardy, has done a flawless job of incorporating the many textures and irregular surfaces of this alleyway. A clever fellow overall, you really should check out his website........
