There's this unpretentious boulangerie in Vanier, east of the city, that makes the best baguettes you will ever eat. No I did not get paid-in-trade to say this! Typical of many shops in this part of town, old homes – not necessarily of heritage stature – have been renovated to suit the running of a business. This bakery is no exception, hence the name: La Maison Baguettes = The House of Baguettes. The mix of architectural influence is very charming, especially the chandelier and ceiling rosette mounted to a popcorn ceiling. To a creative eye, not a critical one, this little bakery is definitely all about the atmosphere and the boulangerie experience.
