This mural on the side of a retired tower grain elevator in Quyon, Quebec speaks of the history of the Ottawa Valley. As a reaction to the booming lumber industry in the 1830s and 1840s, other industries – and essentially the economy – began to flourish. Settlements that were once mere pit-stops developed into formidable villages, resulting in a need for inns, taverns, blacksmiths' forges and, naturally, mills like this one in the painting.
