Theme Day: Open Air Markets
And to the Apple Barn we certainly did go! Down the lane and through the orchard, we were came upon Pinewood Orchards' charming market situated in one of its 140 year-old log timber barns. Hand-picked and tenderly bagged, the orchard carries five apple varieties throughout the season. Macintosh and Lobo are ready at the moment, with the latter being the best – or so I'm told – for making pies because they retain their crispness even during baking. The orchard sells other produce as well, including potatoes, peppers, beans, carrots and the sweetest corn you'll sink your teeth into.
If you are interested in detailed stats on the apple industry in the province of Ontario, then make yourself comfortable as this should keep you busy.
