Season's Over
This afternoon I happened to catch this farmer at the Central Experimental Farm, Ottawa's only government-run, working urban farm. He and his partner were midway through cutting this corn field, and making quick work of the process. If you were curious about the specifics of corn farming, anything you could ever possibly want to know can be found here. Afterall, that's the ultimate purpose of having such a farm: it's a forum where agricultural scientists and horticulturalists can experiment with seed hybridization, farming techniques, sustainability possibilities, disease control, etc. and then share the compiled information with farmers, the general public... and maybe a blogger or two.
