The Massey StoneI really don't think that this is what the stone is called, but as The Right Honourable Vincent Massey, our former Governor General laid the stone I named it such. The stone became an integral part of the design on May 22, 1959 in front of – naturally – a Canadian government building downtown on Elgin. I thought this shot was timely as there is much talk these days about who the next Governor-General should be. Apparently William Shatner (yes, Captain Kirk from Star Trek) is the public's choice for this high-ranking position. There's even a Facebook page to encourage the decision!! We citizens actually have little to no say in such a decision, as the Queen of England does the hand-picking herself. We'll have to see what the result really will be in the coming months, but for now...beam me up, Scotty!
