Walk through this decorative doorway and you will find the present home of the Sisters of Charity of Ottawa. They are a group of consecrated women from various cultures and ages who "radiate the compassion of God", live in devotion to help the abandoned, the poor and the sick. The mission began when a group of Grey Nuns arrived in Bytown (now Ottawa) and under the lead of its' foundress Elisabeth Bruyère (b. 1818-1876) , took to assisting those afflicted on the streets of ill-repute. Apparently there were many such streets!! Now 155 years later, they have missions in 11 countries including Brazil, Zambia and Japan.

Quite nicely framed with the hint of yellow at the bottom.
Thanks:) The yellow door was the clincher for my selection today as when I looked back in the archives and realized that it's indeed the 9th of January.
Sounds like they're doing a lovely thing :-)
A very beautiful doorway! Sounds like those women are a great asset to the community!
Nice details on a unique place!:-)
