Rest In Peace
John Babcock, Canada's oldest veteran, passed away this week at the age of 109 years. Today was his funeral in Spokane, Washington, where he moved to shortly after World War I. Dreams unbounded, he became a pilot at the age of 65, earned his high school diploma when he was 95 and regained his Canadian citizenship at the age of 107. Certainly, he is an inspiration to not let anything, least of all your age, stand in your way of achieving your goals.
"This memorial is dedicated
to those who served their country
in time of need, in war and peace.
We must not forget them."

What an amazing man! I hope I can be just as strong when I get even older.
A lovely monument and tribute to a very inspiring person. May he rest in peace.
What an eventful life! Rest in peace, John.
Thanks so much for sharing this--I can't get enough of stories like this, of people who chose to really live.
