Old and Graceful
Like Hilda, I went exploring. After all, the sun was shining, the snow was melting and I finally had a bit of time to investigate a rugged area I've never been to before: Chelsea, Quebec. It's only 13 km north-west from the Ottawa centre and is a quaint little town on the edge of Gatineau Park. When I headed down the back roads into town, and saw the spire of the church, I was immediately lured in. This steeple is on St. Stephen's Parish, a church that was founded as a mission in 1840, with the building having been erected in 1845. Via weekly masses, youth programs and other spiritual services, the parish caters to both the local francophone and anglophone parishioners; more details of their inner workings can be found here.
