Since 1957, Canadians have been celebrating their bounty and good blessings on the second Monday of October. Prior to then, it was celebrated on select autumn days with a specific theme each time. Canadian Thanksgiving is knee-deep in European roots, following their traditional harvest festivals. It wouldn't be the same without the distinctive Thanksgiving imagery of turkeys, pumpkins, corn (yes, even decorative Indian Corn as shown here), representing a year of good fortune.
As it is a day to be reflect and be grateful, I'd like to say "Thank You" to all of you who take the time to come and visit this blog every now and again; giving your optimistic thoughts, reflective suggestions and especially those quirky comments!!:) Hopefully you will continue to enjoy your visits as much as I enjoy sharing my experiences in Canada's Capital City.

Happy Thanksgiving! We all have a lot for which to be thankful! I love the "Indian corn" photo!
I never celebrated Thanksgiving in my life so I have missed many delicious meals.
Happy thanksgiving to you.
Leif: I can't agree more about the being thankful bit, and really we don't need a special holiday to acknowledge such. But the turkey is definitely a nice touch:)
White Oleander: Yes the meals are a highlight, that's for sure! But like I just mentioned to Leif, we really should be grateful each and every day, and appreciate just how lucky we really do have it.
