The Rising Cost of Capitalism
Yes, the price of gas is slowly climbing, and we – okay, me – barely even noticed actually; but now that it's nearing a dollar per litre, the daily fluctuations are quite glaring. Considering what the prices were almost two years ago (or even what they are presently in other parts of the world) I know I really shouldn't complain. When we left Victoria to make our way across Canada, we filled up and paid $1.52 per litre. Ouch!! And then had 4,000 km to drive at that relative price in a vehicle that was filled to the brim! My step-dad, on the other hand, works in the Alberta oil patch and gets a sparkle in his eye as he watches the prices rise. Like a kid in a candy store, really. There are always two sides (at bare minimum) to every story. What does it cost YOU to fill up your gas tank?

I just can't quite get my arms around the $/per liter concept. It hurts my little math brain! As you know, we're stuck on $ / gallon.
A very general way to get a roundabout approximation: 4 litres to the gallon. So nearly $4 per gallon of the low-grade gas...
BUT, if you are so mathamatically inclined:
1 US gallon = 3.78541178 litres
Basically $3.75 per gallon
Lucky Angela! In Germany we have to pay up to EUR 1.44 per litre, that are CAD 2.01 per litre. But I use my car infrequently, I go by public transport. I wonder that Canada has not the Gallon.
Looks like a bargain.
I don't own a car and rarely have to fill up but just the other night I watched the price go from $1.10 to $1.15 in the space of a few hours.
It tends to fluctuate with all the predictability of the stock market.
