Fire in the Glebe
You could still smell the burning embers of this apartment fire on Glebe Avenue, just off Bank Street, even though the blaze happened this past Monday. All of the tenants managed to be escape the blaze unharmed but sadly, the same can't be said for some four-legged friends. The building is ancient, as most are in this historic area, and as you can see had a wooden frame. According to passers-by, the fire tore through the entire building in less than ten minutes, even though more than 70 firefighters and 18 rigs were battling the blaze. On a variety of scale, images like this are plastered all over the news each and every day. It's a different experience entirely to see such a scene first-hand, and to look at someone's fresh and fanciful outlook be completely lost in the rubble.
