as I continue with the multicultural (spaghetti) strand. Preston Street or Corso Italia is considered the heart of Little Italy, and where many Italian families settled around the turn of the 20th century after deciding to immigrate to Canada. Written for the Archives of Canada, Giacomo Moscatelli fondly shares his heartfelt memory of what it was like to grow up Italian in this Ottawa neighbourhood only a couple of generations ago. Pale by comparison, today's generation can only imagine the hubhub of such a close-knit community, as many of the original families have moved on. The area does host festivals for tourists and locals alike, however, so why not stop by and join in the celebration of this rich Italian heritage?
