Olympic Torch Relay
In case you haven't heard, the 2010 Winter Olympics are taking place in Vancouver, British Columbia in February. The Olympic torch has been traveling from eastern Canada, and arrived in the Ottawa region this past Friday. However, it was only a modest crowd at Scotiabank Place bright and early this morning to cheer on Bill Courchaine, Ottawa Senators' Director of Marketing, in his leg of the Olympic Relay. Other torchbearers in the Ottawa portion have included Lieutenant-General Romeo Dallaire, Olympian Carolyn Waldo, and 1948 Gold-medal Olympian Barbara Ann Scott. Over a period of 106 days and 45,000 kilometers, the Torch will pass through the hands of 12,00 torchbearers.
