Experimental Farm – Part 2
The idea of the Central Experimental Farm came to realization in 1886, during the Victorian era, when there was a growing interest in natural sciences. A Bill was passed (The Act of Respecting Experimental Stations) and so research on the Farm began. Over the years, studies in horticulture, livestock, botany and entomology have all advanced, and so has – literally – Ottawa. The four square acres are now completely surrounded by the modern city, adding to the charm of these historic barns and out-buildings.
