When An Autumn Evening Meets Up With a Summer's Day
A pleasant surprise when I discovered this gem of a sign in a quiet residential area last night – the Norwegian Embassy. As there are approximately 250,000 descendants of Norwegian immigrants living in Canada their role is a necessary one. The purpose of the Embassy is to promote diplomacy, business services and extensive cultural contacts between Canada and Norway. One such cultural event will be taking place in Toronto, Ontario (they just hosted an International Film Festival) from October 11 thru November 7 – "A Summer's Day" by acclaimed author and playwright Jon Fosse. It is a play set on the Norwegian Fjords; a haunting story from two perspectives that takes the audience to a pivotal point in the couple's life.
