A Rich Heritage at Carp Farmers' Market
We had what felt like our first day of summer today: the sun was out, the birds were singing, and it made for a perfect drive to the Carp Farmers' Market, only 25 minutes west of Ottawa. Everyone else seemed to have the same idea! There were freshly baked goods, spicy sauces and homemade condiments. Not to mention the mountains of quilts and crafts! The real prize of the day, though, was all of the healthily delicious, locally grown produce. Rainbow Heritage Gardens (Zach Loeks, farmer, shown above) is just one local farm that specializes in produce grown from heritage seeds and use of public-domain, non-hybrid plants of Canadian significance. If you're interested in a simple yet rewarding lifestyle, consider an internship- you won't regret it. http://www.craftontario.ca/regions/craft-ottawa/rainbow-heritage-garden/

Delicious photo! The farmers markets are always the greatest - go green! And they are super photo snaps! Welcome to CDP! Regards from EAGAN daily photo
Thanks so much, Leif!:) It's one of my favourite things to do, but had forgotten until yesterday. Such is life. There is just no comparison for the crisp, fresh tastes of locally grown produce. Although I do believe in going green, my stomach (and taste buds) has an ulterior motive!!
