Rally for Peace
Yesterday and today, Ottawa played host to CANSEC, Canada's largest military industry trade show at Lansdowne Park. On a positive note, the show featured the latest technology in public safety, threat response and emergency planning.
This above poster (found in our favourite neighbourhood of the Glebe) was an open invitation issued by the Coalition to Oppose the Arms Trade (COAT) to protest against the trade show. More specifically, they are against the manufacture and sale of weapons, ammunition and military components. Just last year the City of Ottawa overturned the city's 20-year ban of this event and there is much to say on this subject. I'm not going to get political – it just doesn't seem a good fit. *sigh* If only we could all could just get along...
