Almonte Beckons
After all of our hard work in the garden yesterday, this afternoon we were needing an escape. The solution was a short jaunt to the charming historic town of Almonte in Lanark County. With a light breeze off the Mississippi River (no connection to the American river of the same name) and ice cream cones in hand, we walked up main street to see what we could see: the clock tower, of course. It is this portion of Main Street that plays host to the Puppets Up! parade, as part of the international puppet festival to be held here on August 7th and 8th, 2010. Our family took in the festival two years ago and can say it is a truly unique event devoted bringing out the inner child in everyone. If you get a chance, it is well worth the trip.

Looks like a lovely small town. The street scenery reminds me of my birthplace near Berlin.
