Sea of White
When we moved to the Ottawa Valley, I was instantly in awe of the many different kinds of greenery, foliage and flowering bushes that I had never seen before. Not even in magazines. So imagine my delight when last year this bush in our back yard began to flower! Well, today I discovered that it is a Butterfly Bush (Buddleia) and is supposed to indeed, attract butterflies because of its sweet nectar and light, fruity scent. Originally from Chile, the plant now has many varieties including a red variety that attracts hummingbirds. But just goes to show how the weather is affecting plants and animals alike: the White Bouquet bush (shown above) isn't supposed to bloom until the summer.
