Dog-Free Zone
Recently the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) hosted clean-up days across the nation's shorelines. The standing joke is that here in Ottawa they are still tallying the amount of trash and the sorts of trash that were collected! Being a government city, it doesn't take much for anyone to take a jab, I suppose, because it really is a very clean city. Actually, according to Forbes magazine, Ottawa ranks #4 in the world (yay!!) behind Calgary, Honolulu and Helsinki.
It does make me think of another type of trash: that from people's pets. Hence the signage. Oddly enough, it was on my way returning to my car that I even noticed this sign. Only moments earlier, there was a dog on the shoreline taunting a Canada Goose. All I can say is that I hope the goose won! But for those of you who may be planning on visiting the Capital Region with a furry friend in tow, you can take them to one of these dog-friendly swimming areas.

I wish there would be such dog-free zones in Germany, in Stuttgart too. It's not funny to step into ...
