Boundless & Without Expectation
A good friend and I went tonight to Dominion-Chalmers United Church this evening to hear the internationally renowned a cappella band from Finland, Rajaton. It was a pleasant surprise to discover that there was a children's choir festival going on as well. This year marks the 5th anniversary of the Kaleid Choral Festival (April 30-May 2) whose vision is to enrich, energize, and inspire community choral artists of all ages and levels of experience. If tonight's performance was any indication, I can certainly attest that they have definitely achieved their mission, as the children's faces were lit up with pride and full of be-attitude. And then when Rajaton stepped on stage to join in the choir, the room became mystical and magical!! Not religious in the least, it was a truly spirit-lifting evening. The range! Those notes! The atmosphere! Sometimes the best surprises happen when you step out of your comfort zone, when you discover something new and boundless, without expectation.
