Now What Do We Have Here?
The original Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame commemorating local athletic achievers opened in 1968 in the Ottawa Civic Centre, but presently finds itself temporarily located on the second floor concourse of Scotiabank Place. Cream-of-the-Crop athletes such as W. J. "Wally" Masters (top American League football player and coach), Mrs. Alexa Stirling Fraser (one of the world's greatest golfers in the early 1920's) and Betsy Clifford (Canada's youngest skier to enter in the Olympics at age 14 and youngest to win a world title at age 16) all called Ottawa home once upon a time and are showcased here in the Sports Hall of Fame. Over 200 of Ottawa's finest athletes, trainers, coaches and builders have been welcomed into the prestigious Hall of Honour and each year there are new additions to share in such fine company.
