Just Monkeying Around
There are 18 public indoor swimming pools in the National Capital Region and are run by the Parks and Recreation division of the City of Ottawa. The fantastic thing is that the pools are sometimes part of a larger recreation centre, with sports facilities for the whole family, even offering monkey-minding (just kidding) while parents have the opportunity to work off some stream. To promote health and fitness in our children, the federal government implemented the Children's Fitness Tax Credit, which is a non-refundable, personal tax credit that allows parents to claim up to $500 per child under 16 years of age for eligible fitness expenses. Example: swimming lessons! With tax time quickly approaching, take this as your reminder fellow Canadian Parents, to pull out those receipts of yours.

Encouraging fitness in children in this computer and video age is very worthwhile.
I am surprised to learn of so many swimming pools in Ottawa. Hockey rinks would not have been a surprise.
A little indoor swim sounds good! I'm not one of those crazy "polar bear swim" dudes who jump into a hole in the ice for a swim!
