The Capital Certainly Does Skate...
Today marked the Opening Celebration of the 40th Annual Winterlude Festival. This world famous ice surface is one of the official sites for Canada's winter celebration which runs until February 21st. Not to worry – I'll get some shots of the Festival posted!! And, as of tomorrow morning at 8 am, the entire length of the Rideau Canal will be ready and open for skaters, albeit in some spots at a reduced width. Annually, an average of 1 million visitors come to skate on the world's largest outdoor arena. There are three Capital Skate shacks just like this one set up at prime locations along the Canal offering skate and sleigh rentals, skate sharpening and the convenience of a boot check.

I guess it must be a lot of fun especially if the ice is good and the temperature isn't toooo cold!
