Another pleasant surprise as I was on my way to Diwali celebrations on Friday and got lost in the process. But really, is there such a thing as 'lost'? More like finding a treasure! St. Francis of Assisi is this fantastic church on Wellington Street in the west end of downtown Ottawa. Known for its statues, in the two niches you can see St. Francis and St. Antony. One day I will go inside this church without columns (a true architectural feat) to see the others. The first church of the same name was built in 1891, but this larger more elaborate Gothic style church – run by the Capuchin Fathers – was built in 1914 and opened to the parishioners in 1915.

I have enjoyed being a follower of your blog and today's photo is a good example. You have captured the church at the perfect time of day, illuminated from the dusk, but with a deep blue sky.
gorgeous shot. I have signed up as a follower and look forward to more great photos.
Heavenly photo! Love the blue color from above! Please do show us a photo from inside . . .
It looks wonderful! Especially with that blue light on top!
Without columns? Wow. I really hope you can go inside and they allow you to take photos. I would love to see that!
Thank you, everyone:) Will definitely go back in the daylight and investigate all the wonders I missed that evening.
