A Unicorn, You Say?
But how can a country so driven by fact, be so enthralled with a mystical creature? Highly symbolic, originally the Unicorn was representational of both chivalry and purity, effectually our relationships with Scotland, England and France. The components of the coat of arms (which only became official in 1921) and the many symbols of Canada, can be found throughout the architecture of the Parliament. If you're ever bored and looking for something interesting to do, you could have your very own scavenger hunt! One hint: this highly detailed limestone sculpture (although it really looks like a relief) of a Unicorn at the entrance of the Centre Block of Parliament.
