Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica
Well, it is Sunday after all!!:) Let me introduce you to Ottawa's oldest standing church: the Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica on Sussex Drive. The first plans for a little parish date back to 1839 but it wasn't completed in its' present standing until 1885. Not very old by some standards, but we have to consider how young a country Canada really is! It has, in fact, been deemed an Historic Monument but at the same time, still carries on Sunday Service (1 bilingual, 2 French and 2 English services) and is open to the public for visits. On another post, I will have to feature the rich and impressive Gothic interior, but in the meantime you can sneak a peek for yourselves.
