An Historic Garden in Canada's Capital
At least that's how the literature describes Maplelawn, a preserved walled garden and elegant home built by William Thomson in 1831. Located on Richmond Road, together, the home and remaining walled garden provide a clear record of the way European architectural and landscape ideals were transplanted to Canada. In this case, transplanted by Thomson, a Scottish immigrant. In the early 1950s the government acquired the estate in order to preserve this historic property. However, because the upkeep that the National Capital Commission provided was very basic, a volunteer group was formed in 1993 to study, preserve and rejuvenate the walled garden.

A beautiful garden with a cute water fountain!
Looks like a nice place to have an afternoon stroll.
I can feel the warmth! Scotland is so cold and rainy I am craving warmth and sunshine.
