Damsel in Distress
When we went for a drive and discovered some rather interesting rock formations, there was no choice: we had to pull off the road to go investigate (sans orange clothing!). The boys were throwing stones into the pond, and I took to investigating the nether world. Must say, I did not know it is now mating season for the dragonflies. Never really gave it much thought ever, other than thinking all of that business happened in the spring. But I suppose this species (120 alone in our neck of the woods) didn't survive for over 300 million years by sticking to a regular work schedule....

Very interesting mating style, but very nice picture.
Am just relieved my boys were more interested in throwing rocks into the pond than the dragonflies. Wouldn't quite know how to explain the Nature of Things. Usually I can say "They're just wrestling" but this unlikely pose wouldn't quite suit. Thanks for dropping by!:)
Very cool photo. Never really thought about dragonflies in this manner. Now that I think about it - I don't think I've ever seen a baby dragonfly.
Lovely shot! So glad your kids are exploring outdoors on a fine summer day, tossing stones "kerplop" into the water, and seeing the simple wonders of the world around them. Gives you time to slow down and "see" things, too, and then we all get to share in your adventures.

And in public. There should be a law about this kind of thing!
