Come to "Maman"....
This gargantuan sculpture is the creation of French artist Louise Bourgeois, who has been described as being one of few important female artists of our time, with a dynamic career spanning over 8 decades. Originally, "Maman" stood outside the Tate Modern Gallery in London, however it was dismantled (bronze, stainless steel and marble and all) and since 2004, has stood outside the National Gallery of Canada here in Ottawa. A bit of a cliché, but I really couldn't resist once theme day arrived, especially since this monumental spider stands 30 feet high.
